This is a national fundraising position that seeks to expand partnerships with Fortune 500 corporations and national foundations interested in ending domestic violence. This high profile position will oversee all fundraising, public relations and supervise a staff of seven. Need strong corporate and major gift fundraising background. The National Council on Family Violence encompasses the National Domestic Violence Hotline (NDVH www.ndvh.org,), the National Teen Dating Abuse Helpline (NTDAH www.loveisrespect.org.), and the Texas Council on Family Violence (TCFV www.tcfv.org.).

Essential Responsibilities/Duties

  • Responsible for executing a broad-based development strategy to secure financial support through individuals, corporations, foundations, volunteers and government.
  • Oversees marketing and public relation strategies that promote a positive and compelling image of the organization.
  • Leads fundraising efforts by personally cultivating and soliciting portfolio of major donor and top prospects.
  • Directs major gifts program including identification, cultivation and solicitation of major donors. Formulates and implements innovative major gift strategies.
  • Directs foundation and government grant programs including strategies for grant submission, proposal writing and submission of foundation reporting requirements.
  • Supervises Development and Communications staff. 
  • Oversees online giving program, donor prospects and donor research.
  • Establishes strong, constructive and appropriate working relationships with CEO, staff, donors, media and the general public. 
  • Establishes and strengthens relationships with national and statewide corporate and foundation partners.
  • Works closely with agency governing boards, advisory board and other key volunteers in identifying, cultivating and soliciting prospects and donors.
  • Oversees marketing and promotional plans for TCFV, NDVH and NTDAH initiatives.
  • Oversees Raiser's Edge database, tracking systems and donor acknowledgments.
  • Oversees organization branding.
  • Oversees fundraising events.
  • Oversees marketing, promotional materials, media relationship and leads public awareness campaigns when appropriate.
  • Works closely with agency executive leadership to determine who will best fill the role of agency spokesperson as opportunities arise. At times acts as agency spokesperson nationally, statewide and in a highly visible range of situations.
  • Performs other related duties as requested by the CEO.

Minimum Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required

  • Ability to articulate with passion the missions, programs and purposes of the agency.
  • Proven track record in personally cultivating and soliciting major gifts and have national corporate and foundation fundraising experience
  • Ability to formulate and implement innovative major gift strategies and develop and implement a comprehensive fundraising plan;
  • Ability to collaborate with and lead senior management, the Board of Directors, volunteers, staff and other constituents and stakeholders in driving philanthropic directions and priorities forward;
  • Ability to oversee foundation and government grant programs including strategies for grant submission, proposal writing and reporting requirements;
  • Ability to oversee marketing and public relations strategies for the entire organization;
  • Evidence of being a self-starter, able to succeed with minimal supervision and oversight;
  • Ability to build a team, work collaboratively within a "team management" model, providing support and constructive feedback in interpersonal interaction with staff and colleagues;
  • Ability to organize and maintain efficient operational procedures including financial management and reporting, donor development and tracking systems, etc.;
  • Proven record in goal setting and the achievement of established goals using consistent, growth-oriented, and quantifiable measurements; 
  • Availability to travel.
